Cummins Cricket Team: 1st runner up in university matches

The cricket team of our college recently participated in the University matches, where they bagged the second prize. We were the 1st runner up after Modern college. The university matches are the cricket tournament organised once a year, where teams from various colleges under the University of Pune compete.

Matches started from 8th October'16. Our college team was directly playing the semi finals against Sinhgad Kashibai Navale College of Engineering. Our match was at BMCC ground. Our sports guide Anjushree Augustine ma'am was present. The match was for 12 overs. Cummins won the semi finals against SKNCOE. We had a chase of 50 against SKNCOE which we won by 5 wickets. We had our finals against modern college on Monday 10th of Oct. The match was of 12 overs. We lost with 48 runs all out. The team captain Siddhee Pimparkar was selected for the Zonal level matches, because of her performance in semifinals where she took 3 wickets. Great job by all the players; I was the keeper of the team. It was great experiencing all this first hand. Parents of few team mates and friends from college were also present at the event to cheer the team. The former captain - Sayali Mahamine, a BE passout, was also present to encourage and advice.

Day 1 -The semi finals: Cummins vs. SKNCOE
The team reported to the BMCC college ground at 11 am. The match was scheduled at 1 pm after the match between SP College and modern college. Modern college was the winner and qualified for the finals. The match took around 2 pm to start. First year students of our team had exams on the same day so they reported at the ground directly. After the initial reporting and verification both the team captains were called for the toss. Cummins won the toss and we decided to ball first. The match was of 12 overs. After the first innings the score was 50 all out, we had a chase of 51 runs. We won by 5 wickets and qualified for the finals against Modern College.

Day 2 the finals: Cummins vs. Modern College
Our team reported to the ground at 10:30 am and the much awaited match started at 12 noon after a little warm up. We won the toss and decided to ball. They with only one wicket down left us with a target of 150 runs. At the end of 08 overs we were all out with 48 runs on board. We were the 1st runner ups.
